A new bridge to cross, while exciting, can be lonely and frustrating without good support.

It’s about doing what you really want without being afraid.

But doing something is not as easy as saying it. When you think of doing something, it sounds like such a big deal at first. But, once you go ahead and do it, it’s just another small action step you’ve taken.

Starting something new is difficult only the first time. Once you take the first action, you’ll start to feel the exhilaration that comes with it. It’s the first step that’s the most difficult and if you cannot take it alone then you should engage with someone who can help.

Think of all the good things that follow once you take that first step and while you are thinking about it, think of all that you will miss because of not taking that first step. Ask yourself, “What’s the worst that can happen and what are the probabilities of it happening?”

Weigh up the reasons to do something against the reasons for not doing it. If the benefits exceed the unfavourable consequences, then go ahead and do it. So, what’s the worst thing that can happen?

“Ideas are a dime a dozen. People who implement them are priceless.       Mary Kay Ash

Well, maybe you’ll make a few mistakes while you are learning or you might encounter an unexpected situation. It is the mistakes and unexpected situations that help you to grow. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Always try and avoid the worst if you can by being careful, but with good support, most things can be overcome. Never rely on your own understanding of a situation. Seek the support you need and the benefits of taking the first step will be worth it.

So, whatever it is you wish to do always remember that you need to make a bold decision and take a determined step, just once. After the first step, you’re going to be excited and start having fun as your new situation unfolds.

When you think about all the great things you could accomplish in life, you need all the courage and determination to be focused on your first step.

You must have heard, “A thousand-mile journey begins with the first step.” Be courageous and take that first step and the rest of the journey will become easier.

Personal Experience:

More often than not, once I have taken the first step, I look back and ask yourself, “What was I worried about in the first place”?  Sometimes I may even start to feel a little embarrassed at how easy it was

It’s not uncommon for people to spend more time looking at the downside of taking the first step, rather than looking at the upside and taking the leap of faith.
