Don’t want to go to work today, why?

Unless you are overtired there will be a deeper reason.

How easy it is to just roll over and forget all your worries

Of course, you can get away with taking a day off here and there, and no one might notice it. But I believe this is the sign something is wrong. Wanting to take a say off is often a symptom of something much deeper troubling you.

If you don’t find out what is troubling you then the struggles will continue. If you want to skip work today because you lack energy,  maybe you are too tired from overwork and just need a break?

Start looking seriously into your health. You may actually enjoy your job a lot more just if you were healthier. Bad habits die hard, smoking, eating, drinking, do some research and try to make a few changes to increase your energy level. The payoff is that the higher your energy levels the better your time management will be.

“Constant fear and pressure from disturbing clients, ungrateful colleagues, or a lack of cash flow bring on the stress. The thought of going to work can become unbearable”. Peter Sergeant

I think for me my biggest motivator would be that I am passing the burden to someone else and that is not right. If I call in sick, that would mean that someone would have to try to find someone else to come in.

Also, it would mean that someone else is losing their day off because I didn’t “feel like it”. There is also the scenario that they can’t find someone else to fill in for my absence and then everyone that did show up would have to work even harder because of my unexpected absence.

Be clear about what you want to accomplish. It’s always a good idea to have a clear goal in mind, but especially when you’re feeling tired.

  • Get up and keep moving around, sitting and moping will do you no good.
  • Perform some small tasks to get you action orientated. tasks.
  • Become ruthless about distractions, stay focused on your vision and objectives
  • Take a short break and recharge, the world can do without you for a day.
  • Drink plenty of water and have a good breakfast.

Personal Experience:

I know there are those days where you don’t feel like going to work, particularly if you are operating from a home office, but sometimes you just have to do things you don’t like. It sucks but you can always schedule days off ahead of time. And sometimes it’s good to just take a day off and recharge your batteries. All work and no play make you a pretty dull person.
