This might be idyllic if you have everything under control.

Time to get out of the old comfort zone

Being comfortable may feel good at the time, but being stuck in a rut will eventually lead to a feeling of regret. Resist the urge to remain in your comfort zone.

People will do almost anything to stay in their comfort zones. But, if you want to accomplish anything, get out of your comfort zone. Strive to increase order and discipline in your business and your life. Discipline usually means doing the opposite of what you feel like doing.

The easy actions to better discipline include:

  • Setting deadlines to achieve what you want.
  • Discovering and doing what you do best and enjoyable to you.
  • Avoiding distress and eustress which can lead to burnout.
  • Understanding your strengths and apply them. Everyone has strengths.
  • Associate will more positive people.
  • Focusing on replacing your bad habits with good habits and thought patterns.
  • Pin you favourite quotations on the fridge or dunny door so you see them every day.

“People will do almost anything to stay in their comfort zones. If you want to accomplish anything, get out of your comfort zone. Strive to increase order and discipline in your life “. Dave Kekich

Unless we move out of our comfort zone, the reality is that we won’t make breakthroughs in your life, your businesses, or improve your health. You simply can’t coast through life if you want to make it better.

However, moving out of your old comfort zone is something most people have to deal with at some stage in the life and struggle to overcome.

We all have good days and bad days

When you have bad days, you’ll be tempted to return to your comfort zone habits, but it’s also the time when you need to fight against doing so the most. If you are feeling a little burnout, take a day off and recharge, but the next day start to avoid the stressors.

You will have to fight the urge often but if you want to have the good days you dream of you have to keep fighting. It is always easier to go back to your comfort zone. It would be easier if you could just give up and go back to doing whatever you wanted and skipping the time you devote to improve your life and then live a life of regret.

Unfortunately, the day we quit is the day we start living a life of regret. It is the day your friends will start to desert you and it is the day you move your life into one of continuous struggle.

That regret will be far more painful than any struggles you are living with now. Whatever your aspirations, you must continue to learn and grow and have the discipline to do the things you don’t always necessarily want to do.

“Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new”. Brian Tracy

What people really fear is a negative change, things getting worse

You need to look at what you might think are negative changes, and reframe them as positive changes to your lifestyle.

If you want to make those big changes in your life, then you need to break free from your old comfort zone. You need to challenge yourself to increase your planning effort, rethink your purpose, vision and objectives and then start taking actions every day.

If we do this consistently, you will develop new, stronger habits that will allow you to become more involved with the better things in life.

Try keeping a journal

Even if you get nothing else from this article, you will be amazed at what you find out about yourself and your business when you start writing down your thoughts, ideas and opportunities.

Keep the journal handy so it is available at all times. Anytime you have a negative or a positive thought, write it down in your journal. This immediately stops your negative thought in its tracks.

It then focuses your mind on the positive things, the things that are important to you. You might want to isolate the negative thoughts by placing them in the back of the journal. This way you won’t be taking up space in your brain that could be used for positive action.

Within a short space of time, maybe after 30 entries, you will start to see patterns emerging along with ideas for your future. There are the things that will propel you into a new and better comfort zone where you will feel comfortable in taking action. If you are having trouble with the discipline seek to engage and advisor to provide you with objectivity and perspective.

Perhaps this will help you to establish a new value chain for your business and you will never look back again as you start achieving the goals you have.

Personal Experience

While you won’t be able to change everything in your business and your life overnight as it takes the time to rewire your brain and assemble the resources you need.

However, if you are ready to shift out of your old comfort zone, start taking small actions every day and gradually, probably sooner than you think, you will be making a positive impact on the areas of your life that are important to you.

I have often advised people who are in a bad comfort zone and want to start making a positive change to;

  1. Avoid negativity and negative people.
  2. Change the conversations you are having.
  3. Follow Alcoholics Anonymous’s advice “live one day at a time”.
  4. Start a journal and capture their thoughts for further discussion if required.
